May 2019 – Lori Jabar

Londonderry High School

Ms. Jabar deserves to be WZID’s Teacher of the Month for many reasons.  First and foremost, for her tireless efforts in her classroom.  Lori works in Special Education at Londonderry High School. Lori’s role is to help students battling anxiety, social issues and other challenges at school.  As a teacher and life coach, she is able to provide students with the tools necessary to have success both in and out of the classroom.   Lori’s classroom is always full of students needing her help.  Just today, Lori saw a student in the hallway having a panic attack.  She was able to help this student calm down and eventually head back into the classroom.  This is just a glimpse as to the type of situation that occurs countless times throughout the day.  Not only does she help students overcome obstacles that inhibit their learning, but gives them the tools on how to persevere for successful learning and life skills.

Lori knows life’s challenges all too well.  Born without a left arm, Lori has had to learn to deal with many obstacles of her own.  She is a role model to her students by showing them, not just preaching, the power of reaching for your goals no matter the obstacles you might face along the way.
