For more than 40 years, my wife, Ava-lyn Lane has loved being a teacher! Other than her family, this is what she is most passionate about and what she lives for.

Ava is also the advisor to a very large art club at Goffstown High School, which she has done for 40 years even though it is an uncompensated position. She provides the time and space for students who might not identify with sports and other types of activities, but who do enjoy the visual arts, a reason to meet and create. Year round, my wife probably spends as much, if not more time, than some coaches do, planning and preparing for the club. The art club activities mainly take place after the school day and on the occasional weekend day.

Ava is a tireless advocate for art education and her students. After 40 years, she still loves teaching art and even though I have suggested that she retire and take some time for herself, she will not leave something that she is so passionate about as long as she is still able to teach.
