Here is what Linda Bucknam said in the nomination:

She is very creative with how she teaches all her students since they all have different learning habits.  This will be her 3rd year as a volunteer for Girls on the Run which is an organization that inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using fun experienced based curriculum.  She meets with girls twice a week after school for 1 1/2 to 2 hours all year and in October and June they run a 5k together.  To me this proves that she not only wants to help students in the classroom but even after school.
