We had the privilage of awarding Tom carty May’s “Teacher of the Month” award. Very deserving as Tom will be retiring after teaching for 30 years. Don’t worry he plans to substitute.

Tom’s nominator wrote: Tom will complete 30 years of teaching this June. He has taught kindergarten as well as 1st, 2nd & 3rd grades. Tom is dedicated to his craft, but what stands out is his dedication to his young students. Besides his love of teaching he loves working with young minds, helping them to learn but also understand the world and how to be a good human. He demonstrates and role models kindness, respect, being helpful and brave. His kind words and understanding of a child’s feelings goes a long way in helping this young person feel safe and included. Tom uses a variety of tools that help make learning fun. He always has a unique custom for each Halloween, making the day fun! He hopes in Maya Angelou’s words, that he has accomplished the following, they may never remember what you said, but they will always remember how you made them feel.
