The new school year is officially underway, and there’s no better way for us to kick it off than by celebrating someone who makes the classroom a place students actually want to be. This month, 95.7FM WZID is proud to name Kara Burgess our Teacher of the Month!

The first weeks of school set the tone for everything that follows. It’s when teachers learn names, build trust, and turn a room full of nervous kids into a community. Kara was nominated by someone who saw exactly how much that effort matters, and we couldn’t agree more.

So, what makes Kara so special? We’ll let the person who nominated her tell you in their own words: First, I am making this nomination as an anonymous parent because I want Mrs. Burgess to know how much she is appreciated by all! Mrs. Burgess is young and energetic, and I appreciate all of the time and effort she puts into making her classroom a safe and inviting environment for all of her students. My student always looked forward to reading, learning new words, and science. Mrs. Burgess is the kind of teacher that every parent is grateful for because she treats everyone with kindness, respect, and she truly pays attention to the kids and knows their personal stories. She makes them feel included, even on the tough days, when their behavior isn’t the best. Thank you for all you do every day, Mrs. Burgess, both as a teacher and a wonderful human being.
