Some teachers teach a lesson. Others teach a kid how to believe in themselves. This month, we’re honoring someone who does both.
Amanda Fredette has spent almost 20 years in the classroom, and her impact shows in the best way possible: former students who grow up, graduate, and still come back to say hello. That doesn’t happen by accident. It happens when a teacher makes school feel safe, exciting, and a little bit magical.
Amanda was nominated by her best friend, who sees firsthand what makes her so special. Here’s what she had to say: I would love to nominate my best friend, Amanda, for Teacher of the Month. After almost 20 years of teaching, she is the kind of teacher students remember long after they leave her classroom. Amanda does so much more than teach academics. She creates a classroom where children feel safe, encouraged,
and excited to learn. She takes the time to understand each child as an individual and somehow knows when they need extra patience, confidence, or simply someone to believe in them. Some of the children she taught years ago have grown up, graduated, and come back to visit her. That says more about her than any award ever could. It means she gave them something that stayed with them. Amanda puts
incredible thought, creativity, and heart into her work. She wants her students to learn, but she also wants them to feel good about themselves, enjoy coming to school, and know that they matter.
